Youth and Adult

The outreach ministry plans or assists mission projects and mission trips, to Zimbabwe. The objectives of the mission trip is construction, education, and medical. BATMEF mission projects focus on eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving uiversal primary education, promoting gender equality and empowering women, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases, creating global partnerships for sustainable development. We partner with other organisations to achieve these objectives. If you, or your church group are interested to plan a Mission Trip to Zimbabwe to do God's work and to participate in evangelism with the people in Zimbabwe, we invite you to contact our Mission Trips Coordinator so we can plan a trip together. For an education mission we are appealing for help to get used computers for a school computer lab for the rural community of Muziti, Africa. Click here if you have questions about the 2009 Mission Trip to construct a parsonage or the Youth Missions project to help setting up a school computer lab at the Muziti, Zimbabwe, Africa.
While in Zimbabwe you will be able to visit Africa University, the first United methodist University in AFRICA. Bishop A. T. Muzorewa
played a pivotal role in establishing the United Methodist University in AFRICA. Africa University is at Old Mutare in Zimbabwe where Bishop A. T. Muzorewa was the resident Bishop for the United Methodist Church for over 24 years!
Mission trips consist of a missions project and evangelism. In addition to evangelism events surrounding the mission trips, it is an opportunity for the attendees from outside the country to visit church mission centres.

Investing in
Africa
’s Future
“The campus, nestled in a valley about 17 kilometers outside Mutare, and is surrounded by hills in Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe.” The only United Methdist Church university in Africa.
The
Eastern Highlands
Mutare is the capital of Manicaland province but although the country’s fourth largest city, it is more of a country town. Cradled by mountains which form
Zimbabwe
’s eastern border with
Mozambique
, it is a picturesque departure point for the nearby Bvumba hills.

These fern-drenched “Mountains of the Mist” harbour country hotels and a casino and golf-course at the Leopard Rock Hotel, one of
Zimbabwe
’s finest establishments. The highlight, however, is the Botanical Gardens complete with ornamental lake, tea and scones and a view of the Mozambican floodplain flung below that will have you humming along with Karen Carpenter; “I’m on top of the world, looking down on creation…”
If you find you’d like to repeat the experience, try
Chimanimani
National Park
, to the south. Its 2,240m high peaks form a natural border with
Mozambique
and the only way into the Park is straight up. The landscape is quite different from its sister ranges at Nyanga and the Bvumba. Here, Protea bushes lead to sandstone sculptured caves and crystal river pools. Accessible only on foot, you’re assured of privacy, if you don’t mind carrying your own tent.

Victoria Falls
, affectionately abbreviated to
Vic
Falls
by anyone who’s ever been there, is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles. Declared a World Heritage Site, the falls –are the stuff of legends, romance and myth. Long before the Scottish missionary and explorer, Dr David Livingstone “discovered” the falls on
November 16, 1855, the local Batonga people had named them Mosi-Oa-Tunya, “the smoke that thunders”.
The town of
Victoria Falls
can rightly claim the title of “Adrenaline Capital of Africa” because
Vic
Falls
is home to a seemingly endless variety of adventure sports. Bungee jumping off the railway bridge and white water rafting.

For surfers, you may bodyboard the huge standing waves set up as the river bounces off underwater boulders. But for the less adventurous, there are regular helicopter and light aircraft flights for a similar perspective. Sublime sundowner cruises on the broad sweep of
Zambezi
River
are an exquisite way to experience an African sunset, while the more energetic can hire canoes for gentle, guided paddling.
Hwange
National Park
Hwange is the largest game reserve in
Zimbabwe
. The salt pans, acacia scrub and grassy plains support an abundance of game.

The word '
Zimbabwe
' is derived from Shona words that mean 'houses of stone' or 'venerated house'.
The biggest example of ancient architecture south of the Great Pyramids can be found at Great Zimbabwe, built by a once great and prosperous high culture.
Once thought to be the site of the legendary Mines of King Solomon, these ruins have long been the inspiration of adventurers and treasure hunters. Today, they act as both a testimony to a thousand-year-old civilization, and the proud symbol of a new country.
This World Heritage Site covers an area of over 700 hectares, and is the largest of the 150 stone settlements in
Zimbabwe
and the most significant ruins in sub-Saharan
Africa
. It is also an awe-inspiring sight.
